Let me introduce our newest family member – his name is Briggs and he is an 11 week old Goldendoodle (a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle). I’m not a huge fan of the name Goldendoodle (it sounds like what will be left when Briggs pees in the snow).. but I love the breed. They are supposed to have the intelligence of a poodle and the energy of a Golden. So far, Briggs seems to have the intelligence part down, but then again, what dog owner ever says his dog is dumb? I’ll keep you posted as he starts Puppy Kindergarten.
His flight up from Virginia was somewhat traumatic – the poor guy was sick to his stomach on the way to the airport – so he wasn’t very happy when he first arrived. But now he’s settling in and he seems much better.
The kids think he’s great, and Kerry wants to take maternity leave to stay home with him. All in all, we couldn’t be happier with the little guy!

Congratulations on Briggs!
I recently got a black Goldendoodle named Ebony. I am training Ebony to be a service dog. She just completed her second week of puppy kindergarten and she was at the head of the class. She is very intelligent. When she figured out she couldn’t out run our Golden Retriever for the ball, she tried to grab on to his tail and have him drag her with him. After a couple of belly flops and mouths full of fur, she figured out that if she only ran out to the middle of the yard that she could turn around and race him back to me and win!
I have been surfing the web to find other proud Goldendoodle owners to share puppy training advice and stories. Check us out at http://www.goldendoodle-service.com/
Welcome home Briggs!

Hi Chris!
I think Briggs is really cute and I was also interested in your other past comments, from the Everest climbing season to wireless phones to…..global warming.
Back to Golden doodles–I have one friend who has one and she has had a terrible time with Molly being carsick. I think she ended up putting her in a crate in the car when it is really necessary to take her somewhere. she looks pretty much the same as Briggs. They are photogenic dogs. I have another friend who is going to get one. Watch them become a registered breed in the future.
I loved seeing you all yesterday and wish Kerry had been there too. We must talk more about a boat at Squam.
Love, Aunt Anne
